Tuttnauer Class B vs Class S Autoclaves

Tuttnauer explains autoclave classes using the European EN 13060 standard for small steam sterilizers:

• Class B (pre-vacuum) uses a vacuum pump to create a deeper vacuum in the chamber, giving more complete air removal from the most difficult loads. It is intended for wrapped or unwrapped, solid, hollow and porous loads, such as dental handpieces and textile packs.
• Class S sterilizes the load types specified by the manufacturer plus at least one Class B load type. Tuttnauer notes that Class S reaches a weaker vacuum level and is less effective than Class B for hollow instruments.

Tuttnauer's T-Top manual states that the T-Top 10 and T-Top 11 are validated for unwrapped instruments, wrapped instruments and dental handpieces in Class S cycles, and also for textiles and porous loads in Class B cycles.
