What Is Involved in Manual Autoclave Installation?
When we refer to manual autoclave installation, we are talking about how a client can install a small autoclave him or herself when the autoclave just sits on the counter. In today’s blog article, we are going to go over what is involved in manual autoclave installation.
Individual Autoclave Model
When you are installing a small autoclave yourself—manually—it is important to understand exactly what you are supposed to do, and this will vary depending on the model. You may have to unwrap the autoclave, have a place to plug it in, and you will have to fill it with distilled water. So, familiarize yourself with the autoclave’s instruction manual to know what you are supposed to do.
Electrical
In the case of a small manual autoclave, you can just plug it in. However, normally autoclaves are hard-wired into their own circuit, so be careful about operating other equipment on the same circuit as the one you are using for your small autoclave or you will be in for a world of headache.
Water
Larger autoclaves are also hard-plumbed into a water source. A small manual autoclave can be filled with water by hand. However, be aware that only distilled water can be used, and the exact right amount must be added. You will probably have to manually release the pressure of the steam, too. So, understand how your autoclave works before trying to use it.
Level Ground
All autoclaves need to be on a level surface. If you are installing a manual autoclave, then you have to make sure your surface is level and remedy the surface if it is not level. The autoclave will not work efficiently—or at all—if the surface is not level.
If you have any questions about your autoclave, talk to your dealer or the manufacturer. The autoclave performs a critical job and has to be installed correctly to operate correctly. You will also have to test the autoclave before using it for sterilization.
